CarTech is a leading publisher of how-to automotive titles for hardcore enthusiasts. When CarTech’s website needed a new look with tons of functionality, Vice President and General Manager Molly Koecher came to Bookmobile for the solution.

Bookmobile designed the CarTech website to drive Direct-to-Consumer sales. CarTech’s website isn’t just a retail site, it’s a source of information and a community base for automotive enthusiasts. Features include free technical tips, online calculators (like how to find “rear gear ratio”), and a wish list. There’s a blog, of course, and also Reader’s Rides where users can upload their own photos.

All the content and features work together to drive the sales of print books and eBooks–Bookmobile built the shopping cart for a clean and safe (PCI compliant) checkout and Bookmobile also provides ACS4 for the eBook purchases (PDF and ePub). CarTech’s titles are heavily illustrated so web-ready PDFs are the best eBook format. CarTech’s subsidiary imprint, Sunrise River Press, which publishes health and medical titles (and whose website Bookmobile also developed), sells eBooks in the ePub format.

CarTech’s title management system (in this case, Acumen) feeds into and out of the website daily, updating prices, related titles, orders, metadata, etc. CarTech can also update the blog, news, and featured titles easily from their end. The site incorporates Google Analytics and other back-end tools to track marketing campaigns and sales data.

Working with Bookmobile gave us the flexibility to design the website we wanted. They did a great job of accommodating our needs and working with us to create a site with all the elements we felt were important to reach our end consumer.
—Molly Koecher, Vice President and General Manager of CarTech
