Autoptic 2018 is coming! Autoptic is a festival for comic book publishers and artists, and it takes place this year on Sunday, August 19, at the Aria Event Center. Over 100 comic book publishers and artists will be exhibiting and selling comics, posters, and more. Autoptic is a juried show, and attendance at the event is free to the public! As the Autopic website describes,
With a strong focus on publications and artwork that feature original, creator-driven content and compelling DIY aesthetics, Autoptic 2018 will give exhibitors an opportunity to connect with other like-minded artists and audiences while also offering attendees a chance to support and discover all manner of exciting, new and independent artists and creators.
Bookmobile will be exhibiting at the show (table 41B), displaying great examples of comic books and artist books we’ve printed for Coin-Op Books, Sofawolf Press, Hebru Brantly, Boneshaker Press, and Ken Avidor, among others. (These books will not be for sale by Bookmobile, they will just be on display.)
And . . . our neighbor at Autoptic will be our very own Sean Knickerbocker! You may know Sean as a publisher print representative at Bookmobile, but did you know he’s also a comic artist?
Sean has been making mini-comics since 2007. He utilizes a variety of print methods for his comics including serigraphy, offset, digital, risography, and letterpress. Does he print a few at Bookmobile? Of course he does! Sean graduated from The Center for Cartoon Studies in 2012. His first book Killbuck was published by One-Percent Press, and his forthcoming book The Collected Rust Belt will be published by Secret Acres in Spring 2019. His work has appeared include The Nib, ecotone, and Irene.
At Autoptic, table 40A, Sean will have Killbuck, back issues of Rust Belt, and a handful of anthologies.
