EUDR Update: Delayed Until 2026
As of 12.18.25, European legislative bodies have confirmed that EUDR will be delayed by 1-year to December 2026 and a majority of printed material will no longer fall under the scope of the regulation.
When does the EUDR start?
The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) goes into effect on a phased schedule: December 30, 2025, for large and medium-sized companies*, and June 30, 2026, for micro and small enterprises.
*However, the EU legislature is working to delay the EUDR until the end of 2026. It is possible that this delay will not be approved until the first quarter of 2026. Bookmobile is waiting to comply until the vote happens.
Are there exemptions to the EUDR?
Yes, from our understanding, if a book’s tree-sourced materials (cover stock, hardcover stocks and boards, interior stock) are 100% recycled, they are exempt. Bookmobile offers 100% recycled interior stock and hardcover boards. We are working on adding 100% recycled cover and dust jacket materials and will be able to provide documentation to publishers that a book’s materials are 100% recycled. Note that lamination and glue are not “forest” materials and not required to be recycled/documented.
Will Bookmobile comply with EUDR and provide data packets?
If the EUDR is not delayed, we will begin the work to comply. Check back here for updates.
