Last spring we produced a beautiful short run catalog printing for the artist Kambui Olujimi, to accompany his solo exhibition Zulu Time at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA). Kambui is an artist based in New York, and photography, installation, paper, video, and sculpture are just some of the mediums he works with.
Short Run Catalog Printing at Bookmobile
I worked with the designer (and illustrator) Melissa Gorman for the printing of Zulu Time. Melissa did a beautiful job with the book’s design. Her design choices convey how Kambui creates his artwork:
Zulu Time is 8-½” x 11″, with a 4-color interior printed on 100-lb. matte-coated white stock at 408 PPI. The cover printed 4-color on 10-pt. C1S with gloss lay-flat lamination, and a registered emboss stamp on the front cover. The book was perfect bound with PUR glue due to the coated interior matte pages—we use PUR on any interior with coated stock for a stronger and more flexible binding.
From Melissa,
After searching for weeks for a high-quality printer based in the US that could meet our tight budget, we discovered Bookmobile. From their samples and clear communication about their capabilities, to their deep understanding of working with artists and creators, Bookmobile proved to be the best choice we could have made to print the catalog. I look forward to working with them again!
