We’ve been printing art books for Eric Timothy Carlson since 2015, and we just shipped his most recent title, NYPLPCETC 01-04 (Anthropocene), to Switzerland for Art Basel 2017. Eric has an installation at Printed Matter’s space (see image above). NYPLPCETC is a book of over 900 images that he selected over a year from the New York Public Library’s Picture Collection. We printed a first edition of NYPLPCETC in 2016 (with a red cover, image below)—the new edition has a bright yellow cover.
I first met Eric when Bookmobile began printing exhibition catalogs for Patrick Parrish Gallery. Eric is the designer, and his work Ob Struct Err Ob Literate Or was featured in one of the exhibition catalogs. Very cool fact: Eric was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Recording Packaging for his design of Bon Iver’s album 22, A Million.

Printing Art Books at Bookmobile
NYPLPCETC 01-04 (Anthropocene) is all images and almost no text, 8-1/2″ x 11″ with 400 pages printed 4-color on 50-lb. uncoated white stock. It’s perfect bound with a 4-color cover on 10-pt. C1S with matte lay-flat lamination, with printing on both sides of the cover.
The production of NYPLPCETC 01-04 (Anthropocene) was smooth at Bookmobile, but we ran into issues with shipping. We shipped the books to Eric’s studio, and unfortunately the landlord refused to accept the delivery. So they were shipped back to Bookmobile, and the worry was that Eric wouldn’t have books in time for Art Basel. Luckily, they did arrive back at Bookmobile in time, and we were able to ship them straight to Switzerland. Whew!
