Bookmobile now offers die cutting! It is THE book printing option I have been waiting to offer, and I am really excited to see how our book publisher and art book clients make creative use of die cuts. We are producing the die cut with our Kensol foil stamper. So far, we have only run simple shapes and limited the die cutting to covers (so no die cutting interior pages a là Tree of Codes, please). The cost is slightly higher than our foil stamping costs—the die cut costs a little bit more to manufacture—but then our costs for impressions are the same as they are for foil stamping, embossing, or debossing.
Keep in mind, too, that Bookmobile can insert rainbow end sheets in paperbacks, so you can incorporate a colored end sheet into your die cut cover design. We can print on the rainbow end sheets as well, so the possibilities really are endless.

Another new offering in the works is ribbon bookmarks for hardcovers. We are working on a sample now, so stay tuned for a picture and blog post. It is so new I don’t even have pricing yet, but if you want to know once it is ready, send me an email and I’ll put you on the list.
What would I like Bookmobile to offer next? PUR binding (PUR is Polyurethane Reactive, the most durable book binding glue there is), larger trim sizes (bigger than 11-5/8″ square), and French flaps on trim sizes LARGER than 6″ x 9″. We are researching PUR binders, and the ones we are considering may allow us to increase our maximum trim size.
