Community Gardens in New York City: A Legal Primer is a nonfiction Kickstarter title that’s an overview of the legal status and rights of community gardens in New York City. We just shipped it out last week, and it’s one of the many Kickstarter publishing titles we’ve printed and bound.
The Kickstarter
Published by the New York City Environmental Law Leadership Institute (NYCELLI) and written by Patrick Paul Garlinger and Priya Murphy, Community Gardens raised $836 for the design and printing. There’s over 700 community gardens in New York City and the goal of the Kickstarter was simple—to be able to freely provide this legal primer to gardeners and nonprofits in New York City, so community gardens can be preserved and protected for future generations.
Kickstarter Publishing at Bookmobile
I first began to estimate the book for Priya Murphy in the Spring of 2016. It was important that the interior included color photographs of community gardens, so we went back and forth on the specs and estimates to make the printing as economical as possible.
Community Gardens in New York City is 6″ x 7-3/4″, with 28 pages printed 4-color—odd trim sizes and small page counts aren’t a problem at Bookmobile. The interior is on our 100% recycled and FSC-certified 55-lb. natural stock, and it is perfect bound with a color cover on 10-pt. C1S stock with gloss lay-flat lamination.
