Print Your Own Coloring Book, like The Curious ABCs

Have you ever thought to create and print your own coloring book? The Curious ABCs, designed and created by Kevin Lindberg, is a great example of how to pull off a high-quality, successful coloring book.

The Coloring Book

Kevin was inspired by his children to illustrate an alphabet that would be a learning tool as well as art. It took Kevin seven years to create all 26 letters of the alphabet—every letter is beautifully detailed with objects that start with the letter. As Kevin describes,

I wanted the alphabet to be rich and interesting to kids, something that they would want to return to over-and-over again to find new things, like a Richard Scarry book. As the letters began to form, they started to have this wondrous quality about them, the way the scale of different items played off of one another and they way unusual compositions would form, and the name The Curious ABCs came to mind.

Besides the coloring book, you can also purchase prints of individual letters or a 20″ x 30″ poster of the entire alphabet. The prints and poster are great options to have for a coloring book with such wonderful artwork. The photo gallery on The Curious ABCs website shows kids with the books, and framed letter prints on the walls of nurseries.

The Curious ABCs Coloring Book is 8-1/2″ x 11″. We perfect bound the book with a 4-color cover on 80-lb. vanilla stock with matte lay-flat film lamination. The interior printed black ink only, 54 pages on 80-lb. offset white. Keep at mind that we count pages (and two pages is one sheet of paper) whether you’re printing duplexed or not.

For custom coloring books, we offer paper from 50- to 100-lb. in weight, white or natural. Most of the coloring books we print are on at least 60-lb. weight. For binding, we offer perfect binding, plastic spiral binding, and wire-o binding. Perforated paper is also available, but limited to 50- or 60-lb. white, a run of at least 100 copies, and a trim size that is 8-1/4″ x 10-3/4″ or smaller.
