It was only a matter of time until someone combined cats on the internet with a Kickstarter coloring book printing, and the end result is predictably wonderful: #EGGSBFF Adult Coloring Book by the artist Jimiyo.
Jimiyo is a successful self-employed artist whose cat, Mr. Eggs, became more popular than his art. Mr. Eggs has an Instagram with over 75,000 followers and a Facebook page with over 17,000 followers.
The Kickstarter
Jimiyo raised $5,687 with 154 backers for the Kickstarter. He offered different pledge levels—with a pledge of $50 or more, a backer’s cat would even be included in an illustrated page of the book! Limited to 50 backers, this pledge level sold out quickly.
Printing the Coloring Book
The interior of #EGGSBFF has a variety of illustration styles, some are line drawings, and others have areas of the page pre-filled with black. The art ranges from a cat basking in chicken and waffles, to homages to Dr. Who, Breaking Bad, Bob Ross, and Queen Elizabeth. From Jimiyo,
I ended up choosing Bookmobile due to the relatively quick manufacturing times as well as the responsiveness of the representative(s) when I had any questions. In the end, cost was lower than I expected! That sealed the deal!
The interior pages printed black ink only on 80-lb. white uncoated stock, a great choice for a coloring book. The trim size is 8-½” x 11″ and it was perfect bound with a 4-color cover on 10-pt. C1S cover stock with gloss lay-flat lamination.
