Hearten: True North Gatherings is a new magazine based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Started as an online publication, Hearten began a Kickstarter campaign last fall in order to launch the first print issue. Bookmobile was extremely happy to be the “trusted printer” for this magazine printing!

The Kickstarter Campaign

Created by Becca Dilley, Hearten is a magazine that

embraces the gatherings of the New North . . . we’ll bring you stories, photographs, ideas, and memories that capture the way we celebrate in the Upper Midwest—everything from campfire gatherings to urban meals to weddings to journeys into the countryside.

Hearten successfully raised $7,296 with 113 backers (their goal was to raise $6,000!). Their campaign featured a beautiful video, and the magazine they printed delivers on the campaign promise—gorgeous photos of Upper Midwest food and drink, indoors and outdoors, accompanied by great writing.

Printing the Magazine at Bookmobile

James Norton, an editor Bookmobile has worked with in the past, is a contributor to Hearten and recommended Bookmobile as the printer. (Referrals are always appreciated!) James has printed two books with Bookmobile, and one was also a Kickstarter book—The Secret Atlas of North Coast Food.

Both Hearten and The Secret Atlas of North Coast Food have color interiors. Bookmobile is a perfect fit for Kickstarter books with color interiors: our color quality is excellent, our color pricing is affordable, and we offer a range of interior stocks for printing, both coated and uncoated. For coated interior stocks, we also offer PUR binding for a stronger bind.

We worked closely with the designer, Rose Daniels, to stay within Hearten’s budget, all the while producing a high-quality magazine. From Rose,

It was great working with Bookmobile on the first print issue of Hearten. They helped us from start to finish with super friendly customer service—answering every question quickly, working with us to meet our budget and fine-tuning every detail.  We were so happy to print locally and to achieve such excellent quality.

Browse our Gallery to see the full breadth of what we offer! And with a minimum run quantity of just 25 copies, Kickstarter creators can print short runs and order reprints as needed—which means no worries about storing inventory or cash flow complications. Get a printing quote here!
